Blue Horses at Hells Canyon Overall Honorable Mention

Strong in design, color is used to create the movement for the viewer. First I used a metallic gold acrylic for the underpainting. I finished it in oil while letting some of the gold metallic color come through.

Sometimes the textures come about from the memory of walking in the pastures and field, so the surface of the painting is wonderfully textured.

There are several small paintings on my website, under the category of: "The Horse Series". All of the previous paintings have helped to lead me to this interpretation of the horses in a landscape. I like paint them in groups to depict how they may be relating to one another.
