Palomino at Sunrise
My submission is a painting titled "Palomino at Sunrise" that I hope catches the moment the sunrise hits the subject’s coat, catching her brilliance. I live on Vashon Island WA in the Pacific Northwest. PNW offers a rich environment with abundant grasses and evergreens that it is fed by abundant rainfall. It is a land of blues and grays, but the spectrum shifts briefly at sunrise to rich oranges and reds. I am hoping to present a good balance of realism, which is what I lean toward, and impressionism, which I also enjoy. I appreciate the way that the impressionist masters are able to represent the light and the mood of a scene. I am interested in showing how the light falls on the subject and how it affects the subject's color and mood.
